Jaipur - Udaipur

Since we were leaving early this morning I decided to do room service to take time-- such a treat.

Today we had our longest drive as we left Jaipur to Udaipur.  As we travelled our 6 hour drive we again enjoyed all the people and activity
To kill time one of our friends did a scarf demonstration -- I had a paper that had over 10 different ways to tie a scarf.  It was really a lot of fun and a great way to pass away the time driving.

We finally arrived in  Udaipur , or the city of "sunrise" which  is surrounded by an amphiteatre of hills and set on three beautiful lakes.  As we arrived we were escorted to a beautiful boat and taken to our next hotel-- Udaivilas Resort. As we travelled across the Pichola  lake we enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

An enchanting boat ride across Lake Pichola transports you to the ceremonial welcome that awaits you at resort. Rooms with terraces that open on to semi-private swimming pools present exquisite views and are a unique feature of Udaivilas. Magnificently decorated suites with private swimming pools and

Upon arrival at the villas we had a royal welcome

Have you ever had rose petals drop on your head as you arrive at the entrance--somebody was on the roof throwing the petals down.

Oberoi Udaivilas voted as the best resort in the world by the readers of Travel and Leisure 2012

At sunset we have another boat ride. From the boat we see the different islands and all the marble palaces along the waters edge.  They almost look like fairy castles. Sailing around we pass slowly by the old hillside hunting Gazebo of the Udaipur kings and also the fortified City Palace Walls.

We even see men and women bathe and washing their clothes in the water.

Back to the resort for dinner which was outside on their patio with music.

Finally back to my room but want to enjoy a nice bath before I go to bed!

Not only is this resort voted best property but also is probably one of the most romantic hotels I have been in.  It is very popular with honeymooners.

Off to bed and waiting for tomorrow!!
